Note: Joe's Unique Creations specializes in DTF printing — we don't offer traditional screen printing. For most custom shirt orders in our area, DTF handles the job better.
WHAT IS DTF PRINTING, EXACTLY?
How DTF works in plain terms.
DTF stands for Direct-to-Film. Here's the simple version of how it works:
- Your artwork is printed onto a special transfer film using full-color inkjet printing.
- Adhesive powder is applied to the wet ink and then cured with heat.
- The finished transfer is heat pressed onto your garment.
- Result: a vibrant, durable, full-color print that bonds to the fabric.
Because there are no color separations or screens, every color in your design prints exactly as intended — including gradients, shading, fine lines, and photographic images. That's why DTF is such a strong fit for complex logos and custom artwork.

What is DTF printing?
DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing prints your artwork onto transfer film, applies adhesive, and heat presses it onto the garment. It produces full-color prints with no color minimum and no setup fees.
What is screen printing?
Screen printing uses a separate physical screen (stencil) for each color in a design. It's cost-effective at high quantities but has per-color setup fees that make small orders expensive.
Is DTF or screen printing better for small orders?
DTF is better for small orders. There are no setup costs, so even a single shirt is affordable. Screen printing becomes more cost-effective for very large, simple-design runs.
Does DTF printing last as long as screen printing?
DTF prints are very durable with proper care (wash inside-out, cool water, low heat). For high-volume workwear washed frequently, screen printing may have a slight edge in extreme durability, but for most personal and business use DTF holds up well.
